So...
Let me start off by saying 2012 has been the best year ever! :) We welcomed our little man, Collin Joe, on February 23, 2012 @ 5:26 pm. Funny thing was, I worked that day. I started having contractions at 9:00 am. I didn't think they were contractions so I continued on in the day. It got to be around lunch time that I realized I wasn't feeling too hot and I was in a lot of pain. In my mind, I didn't think I was in labor. :) I just thought I was stretching out. Thanks to all my peeps at work, I was sent home. I called Scott and he didn't answer and I called the doctor and left a message. Then, I called my mom. She left work and drove all the way out here to stay with me. While we waited for the doctor to call me back to figure out what he wanted me to do, we timed my "contractions." I say "contractions" because I still thought I wasn't having them. So we got the call from my doctor saying to go in for monitoring. I thought well crap there goes Kaylie's birthday party. But I thought, "Hey. Going in for monitoring. They are going to say it's nothing and to just go home." Mom thought to bring my bag which looking back, I'm really glad she grabbed it. :) So we head to the hospital after picking up Brendan from school. It was a long drive. Well to me it was long because mom doesn't speed. Even when her daughter is in labor but I love her anyway. We got to the hospital, I went up to the labor and delivery floor and got checked in. I got set up on the monitor. It started beeping really loud and I was in more pain. The nurse looked at me and said, "Wow! That was a big contraction." I was in shock. I thought, "No way. Can't be." I still didn't know where Scott was although he said he was on his way. Backing up a little, that Monday (2/20) the doctor told me that Collin was weighing in at 9 lbs. 4 oz. and I was dilated to a 1. So we set a date for my schedule C-Section because there was no way I was going to get that big of a baby out on my own. So back to Thursday (2/23). The nurse told me she was going to check how I was progressing. She checked and said, "You are at a 6 and fully effaced. Your baby is coming today." I think about that time I lost my mind a little bit. I couldn't believe it. I wasn't quite ready for it to happen. Scott wasn't even at the hospital yet. So my mom got on the phone with all my people and said, "Well, baby is coming today." I got in to the hospital around 4:15 or so. I was sent to the OR around 5:00 which Scott had showed up barely before that from a job. I got set up for the C-section and my little boy was here at 5:26 pm. When the doctor pulled him out, there was an audible "Woah!" The doctor said, "That's a big baby!" Turns out that Collin weighed 9 lbs. 11 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. Poor baby had no more room in my belly. That was the greatest day ever!!!!
Getting Ready to Go!
My little man, Collin Joe.
So after Collin came home, we started enjoying our little family. I wouldn't change a thing. Today, Collin rolled over for the first time. I can't believe that in 4 days my wonderful baby boy will be 4 months old. This is why I love being a teacher. I can have the summer off to watch my baby boy grow. I love him so much. So I will leave you with a few pictures and hope to be better at this blogging thing. :) Love to you all!
